North West:
The 'wild' section of the moor, also the highest.
The Postbridge and Two Bridges area is an ideal base to start walking.
North East:
Some delightful villages to be discovered in this popular part of the moor.
'Uncle Tom Cobbley's' Widdecombe is a major tourist attraction. Chagford and North Bovey are well worth a visit.
South West:
Some excellent walking is to be had either side of the Sharpitor / Princetown Road.
This part of the moor is full of antiquities from pre-history to the industrial revolution.
South East:
A distinctive and pretty part of the moor as it has the greatest variety of trees.
On a pleasant day the drive from Ashburton to Dartmeet can be recommended as a picturesque alternative to the A38
